The Sandwich Parks & Recreation Department is very happy to announce the first annual Sandwich Music and Arts Festival to be held on August 18th from 4-8pm on the Fairgrounds stage and surrounding area. SMARTfest will be a great opportunity for our community to come together through music and art. This year our headliner will be Marty Dread (www.martydread.com), Hawaii’s reggae ambassador, who will be supported by Royal Hammer, a reggae soul band from the Portland area. Royal Hammer features members of popular Portland bands Rustic Overtones and Lettuce. Also on stage this year will be special guest and Sandwich’s own rock band the Harley Llamas. Food vendors will be present for snacks and various delicious dishes as well as artists with demonstrations and items for purchase. Palm reading, a blacksmith, and a glassblower are all scheduled to exhibit. This looks to be a fun family-oriented event with activities for kids and grownups alike. All the bands are really excited to be a part of this brand new project here in Sandwich. Tickets are available through Just Right Events LLC on Facebook, by emailing justrightevents@yahoo.com or by calling the recreation department at 603-284-6473. Tickets are only a $5 donation with accomodations for kids. Many thanks to our growing list of sponsors who have all chipped in to get this off the ground:
