Summer is here and Advice To The Players still has openings in its popular theatre camps – Snapdragon Shakesperience (formerly KidsCamp) for children ages 8 to 12, Shakesperience for those 12 to 15 and Advanced Shakesperience, intensive actor training for high school students. Heading into their 11th year, these camps have won praise from kids, parents and the community for learning, creativity, and just plain fun.
Snapdragon Shakesperience will be led by Richard & Marion Posner, who run Snapdragon Theatre Guild during the school year. This year the young thespians will be presenting Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’. Candace Clift will be returning to lead Shakesperience and Advanced Shakesperience and will also be directing the August production, ‘The Two Gentlemen of Verona’. “I am delighted to be back for Sandwich Summer Shakespeare,” says Candace. “This community is just tons of fun for theatre lovers”. The two-week camps encourage youngsters to find their creative voice and expand their imagination, all while having a good time, whatever their age. “Shakespeare’s vibrant plays are challenging and fun,” says Executive Director Rebecca Boyden. Camp participants romp through games, improvisations, and scenes filled with action, clowns, villains, heroes and heroines and culminate in a rousing final performance for family and friends.
Snapdragon Shakesperience & Shakesperience take place mornings, from 9:00-noon and run Monday – Friday July 16-27. Advanced Shakesperience will be held on two afternoons scheduled around these older participants’ summer conflicts.
Cost is $195 for Snapdragon Shakesperience and Shakesperience and a sliding scale for Advanced Shakesperience. Come be a part of this vibrant summer tradition, and we’ll see you at the theatre!
