The Littlest Birds to play 2 concerts in Tamworth

by Arts Council of Tamworth on September 28, 2011

Arts Council of Tamworth is delighted to present—all the way from the Eastern Sierra Nevadas—old-time folk duo The Littlest Birds playing two concerts in Tamworth on Friday, October 14: a mini-performance and Q & A at 2:00 PM at the K. A. Brett School and a full concert at 7:30 PM at Tamworth Congregational Church.

This is folk as you’ve never heard it (listen to recordings with better recording quality here). Both classically trained musicians from childhood, David Huebner on cello and Sharon Martinson on banjo bring lifetimes of experience to the music they play, combined with fantastic energy and sound. Sharon’s unique frailing allows the banjo’s melodic, sometimes haunting nature to dance between harmonics from David’s cello, and their voices blend with chilling and inspiring clarity. You’ll find music to dance to, music to relax to, music to holler along with, and music that may make you cry with its beauty and tenderness. Come spend an evening with friends and neighbors in the beautiful Tamworth Congregational Church being serenaded by this sweet duo as they tour the nation.

The Littlest Birds kicks off Arts Council of Tamworth’s 2011-2012 season of performances, artist residencies, community workshops and more. By offering both afternoon and evening performances, ACT hopes to make uplifting creative experiences available to community members of all ages, regardless of situation. Tamworth Caregivers has partnered with ACT to provide transportation to home bound clients who wish to attend the afternoon performance. Contact Tamworth Caregivers at 603-323-7697 for information.
