Arts Council of Tamworth Hosts World Café: Cabaret on May 30—All Are Invited

Looking for a chance to have a voice in the future of the arts in our region? Arts Council of Tamworth wishes to invite YOU to a special gathering—a fun, relaxed day of playful inquiry and planning—on Saturday, May 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany, NH. The theme of the gathering is World Café: Cabaret, and the event grows out of ACT’s ongoing strategic planning process. For several months now, ACT’s strategic planning committee has been interviewing community members about the place of the Arts Council of Tamworth in their lives and in the life of our community. During these interviews and meetings the committee has heard wonderful stories about how ACT is a cultural and social experience that offers a unique quality of life to our community. People have talked about the diverse artists and cultures they’ve been exposed to through ACT performances, and about opportunities they’ve had to interact directly with performers in intimate venues. They’ve talked about the beauty of exposing multiple generations to the arts—about the kids that come to “adult” shows and the adults who show up for puppet shows or storytellers—and the ways ACT fosters the artistic development of youth. And they’ve talked about the exciting possibilities for collaborations among the diverse arts organizations in the area.

ACT is excited to share these stories and more with all interested community members, and would like to build upon them. At the World Café we will be combining the information from the interviews with your thoughts and stories to tell what we believe will be a powerful story. Our hope is to use these ideas to build momentum toward creating a future for the Arts Council and for arts in our region that nourishes all of us.

We are seeking you out because we want to hear what you think, so the gathering will be highly interactive. You will have the opportunity during breakfast and lunch to meet and chat with others, and the structured part of the day will be collaborative and creative as well, as we communally enlarge upon themes that arose in the interviews and turn dreams into plans for action. ACT’s World Café: Cabaret is being facilitated by ACT Board Member Vince Pelote and his colleague Lynne Route of DaVinci Consulting in Intervale, NH. The structure of the event is rooted in an Appreciate Inquiry-based approach to strategic planning known as SOAR (strengths, opportunities, aspirations, results). Come be inspired and enlivened, engaged and entertained. There is no fee for participation in this event, and breakfast and lunch are included; our request is that you are able to be present for the entire event. If you would like to participate or have questions, please contact Vince Pelote at 978-660-3721 or by May 27.
