ATTP's "The Winter's Tale" all this week (August 11-16 at 2:00 PM) in Sandwich

The rains have stopped, the sun is shining and Advice To The Players is again offering a lively and fast-paced production of Shakespeare for Sandwich Old Home Week. This year they are presenting The Winter's Tale, a story of friendship, jealousy, love and forgiveness. This play offers something for everyone; a dramatic first act with all the “sound and fury” of Shakespeare's best tragedies and a comic second act, complete with disguises, country dances and tender love scenes.

Mark Woollett plays the jealous Leontes, King of Sicila, and Heather Hamilton returns to Advice To The Players as his Queen, Hermione. Young Rowan Heard is their son Mamillius. Matt Cheney is Polixenes, King of Bohemia and Angela Smith and Andrew Codispoti play the young lovers Perdita and Florizel. Local favorites Bob Bates and Lisa Thompson are the faithful retainers Antigonus and Paulina, and Colin Malette is the go-between, Camillo. The supporting cast includes Lee Stockman as the lord Archidamus, Marion Posner as the Old Shepherd, Alex Butcher-Nesbitt as the Shepherd's son, Clown, and Richard Moses as the roguish Autolycus. Rounding out the cast is a group of talented young players, Butterfly Dompkowski, Natalie Schultz-Purves, Emma Bickford, Brianne Robitaille, and Frederick Bickford, playing all manner of lords, ladies, shepherdesses, a mariner and more. The production is stage-managed by Jessie Earl who also gets to make an appearance as “Time”. The Winter's Tale is directed by Caroline Nesbitt, in her last appearance as Advice to the Player's Artistic Director. Caroline, the founder of our award-winning Shakespeare company, will step down as Artistic Director at the end of August.
