Sandwich Singers will present two concerts of traditional Christmas music, Sunday, December 13 at the Methodist Meeting House in Center Sandwich, and Wednesday, December 16 at the Tamworth Congregational church. Both concerts are at 7:30.
A new treatment of an old hymn tune, Wie Schön Leuchtet (How Brightly Shines) for Horn, Chorus, Congregation, and Piano, has been commissioned by the Yeoman's Fund for the Arts, and will be premiered at these concerts. Four PSU students and Professor Jonathan Santore have each created one segment of a whole piece. The student composers are Colin McIver, David MacLean, Heather Hastings, and Noel Groleau. The hornist is Ron Wold of Wonalancet.
The Singers are comprised of 16-18 local singers, some new to the group, some who have sung every concert since it was started almost 30 years ago. Collaborative directors are Peggy Johnson and Allan DiBiase.
Concerts are free, but donations to the churches are invited.
