Alec Kerr's list continues into the '80s. Surely listening to the Stray Cats will make you long for one of those hairdos. Of 'Lonely Summer Nights' (1981) Alec says, "Amongst the New Wave movement the Stray Cats helped to lead a rockabilly revival. This melancholy lament would sit perfectly next to many similar ballads from the 1950s."
Alecc on the B-52's "Summer of Love' (1986): "One of the more idiosyncratic and enduring bands to emerge from the New Wave scene. This is a fine example of their colorful lyrics and fresh blending of sounds."
