XMAS PRESENT

A poem by Nathaniel Winship of North Sandwich:

XMAS PRESENT

No Magi need
come by. Less is
more, Satan Claus,
King Kargo Kult!

Less tradition
than circumstance,
for five decades
the ends of earth

kept us apart:
no way to find
a common place
to lay out loot.

It's taken years
of family absence
to teach one truth
of Christmas Day:

the greatest gift is
children's presence.
