Sandwich Parks and Recreation is happy to announce the headliner for the 2012 Sandwich Music Festival on July 14th, critically acclaimed Dirigo. Dirigo’s sound has been described as “the Stones jamming with the Allman Brothers at Willie Nelson’s barbecue.” Dirigo is guitarist Luke Patchen Montgomery and bassist Erik Glockler of Strangefolk, one of Maine's most in-demand guitar pickers Steve Jones (The Coming Grass, The Boneheads) and drummer Russ Lawton (Trey Anastasio Band). Strangefolk's passionate fan base provides strong support for theband throughout New England, and Dirigo's rocking alt-country influences also attract fans from outside of the jam-band genre. Dirigo has crisscrossed the Northeast since its inception in 2010, playing festivals and top rock clubs throughout New England and is now headed to the stage in the Sandwich Fairgrounds in Center Sandwich, NH. Dirigo is currently nominated for Portland Phoenix's Best Jam Band 2012 and Steve Jones has been nominated for Best Roots Act 2012, and have been featured in Relix Magazine as one of "Five Bands You Should Know About" as well as the Relix online weekly. Comprised of four nationally touring, seriously lauded musicians, the band never fails to get the crowd onto the dance floor with their brilliant guitar jams and supreme drum solos."We'll definitely have a good time and jam out. We really just want to have everybody dancing and enjoying the music,"says Luke Montgomery.
