Come and enjoy an old fashioned Ice Cream Social accompanied by the traditional New Orleans music of the Swift River Jazz Band, Sunday, September 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. The benefit concert is in Runnells Hall, located on Rte. 113 East next to the Chocorua Public Library. Tickets are $10 for adults/teens and $5 for children, 6-12 years old. Children 5 years and younger are FREE. Friendly’s Ice Cream will be served. The proceeds from this concert benefit the ministries of The Chocorua Community Church. The pastor, Rev. Kent Schneider, is also the trumpeter with the popular Swift River Jazz Band which plays festival concerts throughout New Hampshire and Maine. Other members in the band are Tamworth residents Betty Schneider, drums, Mary Mills, piano, Ernie Mills, trombone and Dave KillKelley, clarinet from Laconia. The SRJB specializes in recreating the sounds of early jazz as performed by legendary musicians Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, George Brunis and Pete Fountain. They perform the music of the 1920s as recorded by the New Orleans Rhythm Kings and the Original Dixieland Jazz Band. Doors to Runnells Hall open at 2:30.
