Mark your calendars now! Art Council of Tamworth is bringing Texas bluesman Willie Laws to Tamworth in November to educate and entertain us. He’ll be at the Tamworth Lyceum on Thursday evening, November 15, to sing and play the Blues with musicians of any skill level and community members of all ages. He’ll spend Friday the 16th as artist-in-residence at the K. A. Brett School and will be joined by his band for an afternoon presentation, with music, on The History of the Blues in America. Friday evening the Willie J. Laws Band will shake the rafters at The Brass Heart Inn in Chocorua. Check back for more details as the date approaches, and get your red hot tickets now!
Willie J. Laws is a Master "Bluesman" with decades of experience composing, performing and producing the Blues, Funk, R&B, Conjunto/Tejano, and Country music genres. He toured world-wide with the renowned Blues artist, Phillip Walker, and with Grammy award winning Los Texmaniacs with accordionist Flaco Jimenez. Willie is one of the few African-American musicians to play "Tejano" music. He has performed in many well-known venues thoroughout the US, such as Tipitina's, The House of Blues, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, and The Hard Rock Cafe. Since 1996, Willie has been performing and writing content for The House of Blues Foundation's Blues Schoolhouse.
