Brett middle school students spent a first day with Hans Schepker today. Among the works of the day: 8th graders learned how to foil (the solder sticks to the foil) and solder glass. They will be creating stars within stars that will then become part of a larger piece that will hang in the school. 7th graders learned about dodecahedrons, cubes, and much more through observation, discussion, hypothesizing, drawing, questioning, testing. 6th and 7th graders will be making glass murals that will become the many faces of all five platonic solids. The five solids will then become a mobile. You too can work with Hans. Come explore math and origami with him on Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Cook Library and on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 PM at The Community School. He will also be offering a professional development workshop for teachers on Wednesday from 3:45-4:45 PM at the K. A. Brett School. Cupcakes at 3:30!
Arts Council of Tamworth is supported in part by a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts & the National Endowment for the Arts. Enormous thanks to our residency sponsors Meadow Pond Animal Hospital and Settlers’ Crossing for funding creative activities open to every member of this community, to the Gibson/Woodbury Foundation for their generous materials grant, and to the Tamworth PTA.
