Current Projects
This is our thirteenth season at the Yeoman’s Fund.
Our plans for the year include a week of painting in August, a week of shape-note singing in September, poetry postings on the internet, poetry etched in stone, a scholarship program in the local school to get kids into the theater who might not have already been bit by the bug, support to other groups whose missions are our own (involving area residents across the ages in the creative process), and a larger commission of new music, involving children’s chorus.
We have provided support towards a youth theater group (Snapdragon Theatre), music and circus arts programs for kids in the school (Arts Council of Tamworth), and family-friendly pricing at the local Equity theatre (The Barnstormers). Our week of singing with Larry Gordon has been wound into a grand and fascinating project of the Tamworth Historical Society, involving also the Tamworth Congregational Church, Remick Farm and Country Doctor Museum, and Cook Memorial Library.
The painter coming to guide us is Philip Hood; the group preparing and premiering the commission is Sandwich Singers.
One of our unwritten goals for every “camp” is that it should be affordable for participants (we usually charge $25 a week, with a few free slots available) and be scheduled so as to allow working adults and students to participate.
